Club Members took part in the bank fishing contest on Loch Toftingall.
This is an annual event promoted by the
owner of the loch, Mr Peter Hovig, who kindly allows club members to fish
for the day.
On what was the hottest day of the
year in Caithness (unofficially recorded at 29C in Thurso), the
participants had some difficulty in not only moving fish but also hooking
them. The sky remained blue throughout most of the day but at least the
southerly wind remained constant which kept the midgies at bay.
The competition was won
by Alan Porteous with 7 fish weighing 4lb 2oz
The heaviest fish
was taken by Ken Macleod at 1lb 13oz
